About the Author
I have lived a varied life to date. I have been married and have 3 wonderful boys who make me very proud. During my working life I have performed a number of leadership roles as well as running several terrestrial and online businesses. Subsequently I have picked up a vast amount of knowledge and experience that I am now trying to pass on through my books. I began my working life in the Police and worked on Traffic and Fast Response. After leaving I trained and worked as a driving instructor and then was headhunted for the role of National Fleet Instructor Training Manager by Peter Gethin, ex formula 1 driver and winner of the Italian Grand Prix 1971. In this role I was responsible for the training of multiple instructors and a lot of this was achieved through presentations. Another aspect of this role involved giving presentations to staff and customers on behalf of blue chip companies such as Ferrari, Aston Martin, Audi and Porsche. Later in my life I trained and qualified as a secondary school teacher, (I currently hold UK QTS (qualified teacher status) in ICT and have an intimate knowledge of presentation software. I have designed and delivered countless presentations to thousands of individuals from the age of 5 to 80 on a huge variety of subjects. Throughout his life I have been a passionate photographer, at one point working as a professional wedding photographer. This is an ongoing love affair and I love teaching others, hence the books. I have been taking images for more than 40 years using both film and digital cameras, although always with Canon. His main areas of interest are the natural world, architecture and macro photography. Conversations are Crucial

This little book was full of nuggets of helpful information. It would especially be good to give to college graduates before they go out to interview and interact in the world of work that does not include flipping burgers and calling everyone "Dude."
My only complaint was the formatting. Roger could have made the book a bit longer and easier to read with better spacing beween the sections. For those of us who are not college students, we need white space.

Never tells you how.

This is a short book. In some ways just an essay. It tells you most of the statements about good listening, etc., but adds nothing new to the conventional wisdom about conversational communication. What it does not do is reveal any specifics about how to get better at it. I suppose I should not complain as it was free. I also I promised I would no longer write bad reviews, because as a writer, I wondered about revenge reviews. But you get what you pay for, and sometimes you need to say what you mean.

Useful handbook!

This is a useful handbook that highlights the main concepts about having meaningful conversations with all sorts of people who we come in contact with daily. I felt some chapters could be a little longer and explore more of the concepts by providing more examples and historical data. Overall, the book is full of common sense steps and serves as a good reminder for us to "listen" and "talk", especially in these days of rushed and electronic communication.
