Optical mineralogy

Very good resource, excellent learning tool. The CD is an excellent addition. A suggestion is to add more pictures on the CD of minerals in a variety of forms and contexts, and go into more detail on recognizing minerals in different contexts. However, it is a great improvement over texts that I used when first learning the subject.

Just an fyi on the Interference Color Chart

Nicely concise chapters on optical properties and a good intro on the polarizing microscope itself.
Warning: last year several students in my lab had charts with colors that were slightly washed out, even a little on the pastel side, on their interference charts. The books were purchased as new. Check before you keep the book.
