Meh
By not joking
While not as long and complex as the first part of this two book serial, I thought this was a nice read. Definitely not a standalone, this requires a reader be familiar with the characters from the first story, otherwise you will be lost. The odd first-ish POV is no longer strong, frequently forgotten in this second story; thank goodness, as it was terrible.
My biggest complaint is that this is a story about a modern day singer/actress, incredibly popular with name and face recognition, and yet the reader never (in either book) gets to see her perform, any paparazzi involvement, stalkers (hers), angry or obsessed fans, and photojournalists with telephoto lens in hand getting shots of the heroine. The disaster of her career is glossed over and off page. At the same time, the hero is supposedly dangerous, feared, the top mob boss on the West and South of the continent, and this again is glossed over and the reader is left to imagine what his life is like. Very disappointing.
Regardless, I would recommend this to others as a two book serial romance with light sex scenes, no erotica, and a HEA.

This book is absolutely amazing and full of surprises

This book is absolutely amazing and full of surprises, lots of twist and full of love. This book picks up right where book one left off and you are in suspense right from the beginning. You are wondering if Nick and Shea can make it back to each other and survive the live Nick leads. If his enemies have anything to do with it they will have to fight to keep their love. I couldn't put it down because I felt such a connection to the characters and the story Nikki creates.
Nick is dead set on protecting Shea and keeping her in his life. His love for her is something he never thought he would find and he will absolutely everything he can to never let her go or hurt her. Her friends and family are against them being together and are afraid his life is too much for her. But her best friend Carrie is always there and supports her through every decision she makes. You are in knots wanting to see if the life Nick has dreamed of with Shea will be there's and until his enemies are out of the picture and not hurting them any longer this is one of his biggest struggles. Nick fights his demons to keep her safe from his enemies and the hurt that his father's scars has left on him. Shea also fight's her demons to believe that she deserves this happiness and that she will not end up crazy like her mother. They fight their demons together and continue to make the family and life they have dreamed of come true.
Their love survives more than most think it every will and they find out their baby has survived everything as well and is a fighter like they are. They will have the strong bond of love always and he will protect her and his child like no other. He gives her everything she has ever dreamed of and more. I can't wait to see what is next and if Nikki will bring us more of this story.
Till my last Day By Justin Moore sums up this story to be and the words are something that Nick would say to Shea because he promises to love her until his last day on earth.

This book picks up where the first one left off. Nick and Shae are back together again. They’re expecting and are soon to be married. They have fought against their careers and the people connected to them and especially Shae’s friends who didn’t want her to be with Nick.
There are ups and downs, twists and turns. Nick still doubted himself and his ability to protect Shae and still thought she deserved a better man, all of which annoyed me greatly. He wasn’t near as bad. There wasn’t much character depth or development. It could have been because the timetable was still very fast, but I just never felt the depth of their relationship or that they progressed.
I did like Max and his book is coming, but with the way that he is with his lady friend, I think it’ll be more of the same feelings of inadequacy & that the woman deserves better/more or whatever have you. I’ll probably read the book if it’s on Kindle Unlimited, but otherwise I won’t, just because the ground seems to have already been laid with the annoying habits of the first book.
