4 Phenomenal Brothers

Deatri King-Bey knocked it out of the park in this 4 in one book. The First Book: Tell her how you feel is the story of Austin and Latifah. Austin has been married before and isn't really that interested in walking that road again... that is until his nanny ( Latifah) is finishing up grad school and may be getting ready to move on. Latifah is in love with Austin but afraid to make a move because of her disastrous first marriage. Austin is feeling Latifah as well but is a workaholic and a bad marriage in his past. They finally pull it together. I love that these characters are adults with issues and that they are not 21. The 2nd story is about Sabrina and Houston. Houston is also a workaholic and has experienced the death of his first wife. They too have to overcome devastating odds to make it to the alter. 3rd story my favorite is Dallas a well known chef and Desiree ( an excellent businesswoman) Uncle Joe fakes a heart attack in order to bring these two together, they bring new meaning to the works....getting it cooking, they too have overcome great odds to get to the alter. Last but not least story 4 Tyler,Tyler, Tyler.... finally meets his match in an unexpected package.Loved it

Loved me some Write brothers!

All four of these stories were sweet and sexy. These men were everything you'd want in a partner and then some. I love the relationship between the whole family. From Uncle Joe down to Jasmine. I think Tyler might have been my favorite only because he's the youngest and most misunderstood. I love how his and Eva's relationship began out of friendship and turned into something they both had been waiting for. Like I said I loved all four stories but if I had a least favorite it would've been the first story. Latifah got on my last nerve page after page. Austin had his problems but she was to much and I was sick of her constant changes and making jump through hoop after hoop. I can't wait to read Tex and Gloria next and then I hope the Jewels and Cody have stories coming soon. So glad this came as a set, I enjoyed page after page of Write brother deliciousness.

Love Living like a Rock Star

LOVE this book! Monica Bossinger's, "The Life and Luck of a Bachelorista," is a must read for women of the world. It's an insightful, witty look at how fulfilling and empowering single life can be for modern women. The illustrations fit the style of the book perfectly and are a delight to see as you eagerly read each chapter to get to the next! You won't be able to put this book down.

Monica's stories are infused with humor and insight from her personal experience, as well as her thoughts about her single and married friends' situations. It makes you feel confident about living the life you want without regrets - and without guilt for not conforming to out-dated social norms. "Living like a rock star" is accepting and being true to who you are and not settling. It's about being generous to others and respecting the diverse choices and lives that make up the world we live in. After reading Monica's book you'll feel like anything is possible. Breakthrough and Revolutionary View on Relationships

Where should I even begin?...This book is A GIFT to all people who are having so-called relationship problems. Why?
1) Some people just don't do relationships. Why is it such a crime to be single and why is a person's value judged by whether he or she has a a significant other or not. Being single is just a choice--it doesn't make you right or wrong, a success or a failure. You gotta choose what makes you happy
2) I've seen this countless times--people keep sacrificing themselves in relationships to "make the relationship work", to "show they love the other person", so they can receive the validation that "they are good lovers and they are loved". Gosh, that's the start of most relationship problems--either the person who has always been giving in will eventually "that's enough!" or will just be in this eternal pit of misery. Stop living for others and live for yourself!
3) What if most of the loving acts or attraction thing we do are just judgments. People decide who is attractive based on what the media defines as attractive (other people's judgments), what their family and friends tell them are desirable (other people's judgments), but not what they truly like, sans all those judgments. No wonder people find they person they "thought" they initially fell in love with gradually become not as desirable...because you never really see that person as who they really are in the first place!
4) Same thing goes for sex. You think that person is hot so you should be turned on? Judgments
5) True intimacy is achieved only when all the barriers are down and there are no judgments in between--just an acknowledgment of what the other person is. Relationships are measured by how far the distance is between the two objects (or persons) and there will always be a degree of separation. It is intimacy we truly would like to have, not a mere relationship.

Life Changing

This is a must read if you are sincerely interested in changing your life, especially your relationship with yourself. Using the clearings in this book, I unlocked a deeply held belief that was destroying my health. I am now 85% improved and eagerly clearing up the last bits of old beliefs that are heading me to a 100% cure.

Good book. Loved It

The first time i read this book it kind of went over my head...after about a month i decided to reread it and it felt as if I hadn't read it before!!
Places in the book are confusing but overall Gary Douglas does get the point thru that we cut of pieces of ourselves to make others happy and we don't need to Divorce ourselves as thats the most important relationship. Gave me a lot of clarity and some very good AHA moments;-)
Also certain clearings and tools felt as if they would work...guess will have to wait and watch:-)
Its a very good book for anyone who does not feel happy with the relationships they have created so far in their lives. I loved it

Writing with ease

Do not buy the hardcover book that goes with the workbook. Both books say exactly the same thing. YOu only need the workbook.

Wish I had this when I was a child

The Complete Writer: Level 3 is exactly what I was wanting for my 8 year old son. He has always been a good reader, but did not love writing. Many of the writing programs that I have found focus more on handwriting without any content. This book is perfect for a child that is ready to move beyond just handwriting and into actually writing something that has purpose. For each lesson, you read a short excerpt from classic children's literature and then you have a writing assignment that also reinforces reading comprehension. The stories are my favorite part of the program. Some of the stories included are: Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Paul Bunyan Swings His Ax, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, Babe: The Gallant Pig, Anne of Green Gables, The Black Stallion, King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table, and The Jungle Book...just to name a few. The assignments that follow teach the student to become familiar with central themes, narrative threads, and reinforce grammar lessons and parts of speech. These are concepts that I struggled with in high school and college because I did not have a solid foundation in elementary school. I love this program and I feel it teaches children to begin to think critically. I would not recommend it for a child younger than 8 because it really begins to build on things that should be learned in the grammar stage. If your child struggles in reading and grammar, I might even wait until 4th grade or beyond to use this book. If nothing else, it builds a love of reading in children and produces creative thinkers and writers in the process!

My two boys go to a school that subscribes to the writer's workshop and write,write,write approach. They did sort of OK - but that approach just is not building their writing competence and confidence. By 3rd and 4th grade, they were so down on themselves about writing.

I started my 4th-grade son on Level 1. I recommend starting with baby steps like this! The work was so painless that he didn't complain about doing this in addition to his usual homework. At this point, he is in 6th grade, his brother is also participating, and we do a week's work in two days: 10 minutes = 2 days on Sat, 10 minutes = 2 days on Sun. I spend only a couple minutes preparing. We skip a couple weeks now and then, because they really could handle higher levels. But I won't make bigger skips though. The whole point of us doing this is to solidify skills that his school left shaky -- I don't want to do the same thing.

In short, it's a great solid program and manageable for busy parents.

Chilling

Reisman demonstrates how American law and culture were turned on on their heads on the basis of shoddy and tendentious pseudo-science and data derived from Nazis, prostitutes and serial pedophiles. What's worse is that this project was aided and abetted by the prestige media and was underwritten by the Rockefeller Foundation. This book exposes the lurid depravity at the heart of the post-war American establishment. This has never been adequately dealt with in the years since Reisman's research came to light. The challenge she flung in the face of our society thirty years ago remains unanswered. Judith Reisman is an American hero and every American ought to read this book and carefully think about what it means.

Shrill tone aside, the book has an important message.

Unfortunately discussions of matters as important as human sexuality in our culture can take shrill and strident tones, both from a Cultural and Social Left seeing itself engaged in some emancapatory liberational project to liberate desire, and from a Cultural and Social Right seeing itself as embattled and defending a right and proper social traditional order assaulted by godless radicals.

Given the impact of these debates on human lives, and very importantly the lives of Children, getting some distance from taking heads and pundits is necessary. Social policy in these areas affect the mental, emotional, and physical health of not only our culture's children, but their futures as well.

Dr. Reisman is a favorite of some right wing circles, to many progressives and liberals this would discredit her. However I think that both sides of the spectrum should stop their cultural war feuding and listen to what she has to say on Kinsey and his research.

What she has to say is nothing short of damning, and looking beyond just this book, at her other works, and the sources she pulls from, there is a repeated picture painted of Kinsey that is nothing short of criminal, and involving scientific fraud of the lowest degree, extremely tendentious and biased presentation of research, and according to some records actual child rape and molestation under clinical conditions.

The allegations made, on the base of real historical research into Kinsey and his project, are severe and should be given a fair hearing. If both liberals and conservatives could put aside their mutual talking head pundits and actually engage the material Dr. Reisman has investigated, I think that both sides would find some room to re-examine many things.

Kinsey and his research were important watershed moments in our culture. On the one hand issues pertaining to human sexuality needed, cried out for, responsible research in an age and moment of rapidly changing moral norms.

On the other hand Kinsey may well have been the wrong man to have carried this needed duty. Flawed, we all are, but the definite possibility that his personal flaws may have let to outright scientific fraud and child molestation are very real possible implications of this book, and deserve fair hearing.

If Dr Reisman's claims and research prove accurate this does not mean that everything associated with Kinsey needs to be throw out. But a real re-evaluation of him, his methods, conclusions, and legacies would need to be done.
