Generally good technical information. A bit of emphasis on "older style" electromechanical relays used for power system protection, but the principles are universal, and still apply to modern numerical relays. A very good choice for anyone who works "in the field."

Kaplan underwhelms yet again. Start with the Official ACT Prep Guide 2016-2017, and avoid this book for the sake of your score.

I’m a Harvard graduate, SAT perfect scorer and full-time tutor who has taught the ACT for nearly 20 years.

1) When a book says "with 6 Practice Tests" in big letters on the front cover, then the book should include 6 practice tests. You shouldn't have to read the fine print to discover that 3 of them are online.

2) Why does Kaplan think it's a good idea to include online tests for the ACT? The ACT is a paper-based test, so in my opinion that's just silly. For the sake of realism, you need to be taking the practice tests on paper--this is just Kaplan's way of passing the printing costs off to the consumer.

3) Go ahead and use the book for basic strategy and mathematical facts, etc., but don't bother taking any of the practice tests. Seriously...they are that bad. The first Science section (page 326) doesn't even give you the correct amount of time--it says "45 minutes, 40 questions" instead of the correct 35 minutes and 40 questions. And the answer explanations look like someone tried to write them all in one day...too brief and too often, barely helpful. Most importantly, they do not resemble actual ACT questions in either their content or their difficulty level.

Am I surprised? No. I've been in the test-prep industry for a long time, and since then, this purgatory between mediocrity and incompetence is what I have come to expect from Kaplan. That, and an army of anonymous online droids who predictably show up on Amazon, immediately after any Kaplan book is published, brandishing predictably brief, vague and grammatically incorrect 5-star reviews. I would strongly suggest that students and parents read the many 5-star reviews of this book thoroughly to see which ones you feel are from actual ACT test takers or parents, and not paid, anonymous reviewers.

My advice: start with the Official ACT Prep Guide 2016-2017, and work your way out from there. There are 12 Official ACTs that are floating around that you can either purchase or download legally, and you should always practice on the real thing whenever possible. Yes, you will also need ACT strategy books such as Kaplan's if you plan to self study, but there are dozens of better ACT books out there. first and only volume of an aborted series

"Volume 1" implies at least a Volume 2 (and for as diverse a subject as neotropical birds, with Volume 1 covering only through gulls and terns in the taxonomic sequence prevailing in 1977, quite probably Volumes 3, 4 & 5). This work is the sole fulfillment of an abortive (and quite ambitious) project. The value of this present work is not diminished by the absence of subsequent volumes in the series.

The author characterizes it as a "faunal synopsis written primarily for the taxonomist, vertebrate zoologist, ecologist, and zoogeographer". Indeed , the treatments of families and genera and the species accounts are essentially technical in nature, but birders confronting identification puzzles may well find helpful (and in many instances diagnostically conclusive) information regarding physical characteristics (including structure and plumage), distribution and habitat preferences.

Great Textbook

I used this book for my Psychology and the law class and I was very pleased. Most textbooks are dry and dull but this one keeps your interest and reads like an enjoyable book. Each chapter has a few real life stories incorporated to the particular lesson and presents the information in a clear and understandable way such that even if you weren't supplementing the book with a lecture, you would still be able to fully comprehend what is written.

A Great Book Full Of Practical Tips!

This was a practical, no-nonsense kind of book for any current father or a soon to be dad. I love the fact that the book covers so many areas that a father typically will have to cover. The author does this with a style that is engaging, and one that helps the reader to easily understand what he can do to change and better the situation. One of the things I liked best were the sections entitled "what You Can Do" as these were very practical pieces of advice and things to think about in relation to the topic being discussed. Even more, the layout of the book is conducive to learning and I know that for me at least, I wish that this book would have been out when I was a first time dad, and I plan to pass this book along to other dads as I believe that they will be able to learn from this too.

Great for first-time dad

I agree with a lot of the other comments; if you are a first-time dad like I am, this book is a great resource. I read it before the baby arrived and it helped me to feel confident about my parenting once he was actually here. It's well organized and I see it getting pulled off the shelf and used as a reference a lot. The author clearly knows his stuff and I'm probably more inclined to start with the answers in this book than trust the billion hits on a search engine.

It is actually a pretty good book. But the problem is that I already read about parenting so much on the internet (just baby center and mayo clinic type stuff) that I found very few new things.

If you are absolutely new to parenting and if this is the first time you are reading about parenting, pick up this book. Think of it as compilation of good stuff from all over the internet. But also remember that all that stuff is only a Google search away.

Nice way to pay off a loan shark

Kaitlin writes another great and intriguing book in which both men and women can explore their gender roles and sexuality.

In this book, Richard is told that all he has to do is go to a hotel room and drink this vial of liquid and stay in the room for one hour. After that he's free and clear.

What he doesn't know is that a young woman is also sent to the hotel room with a similar vial. When they change bodies, each in confronted with new sensations, new emotions, new roles, new ways to experience fear, power, arousal, and sexuality. The real question is whether either of them will want to return to what they had before.

Enjoyable and erotic story about about paying off a debt

I really enjoyed the Kindle book "Paying My Debts" written by Kaitlin Black. The story is always moving and there are no boring spots.

In the story a young man named Richard has a huge debt that he owes a young woman named Andie. She gives him a blue vial and tells him to drink it and then go to a hotel room and stay in it for an hour. By doing this he will be free from the debt that he owes her. Richard drives away to follow the instructions thinking that he got away with a fair deal for only an hour of his time. The story gets interesting for him because he has no idea about what will happen in that next hour!

I won't spoil the story by telling you want it's about, but suffice it to say that I think all of us guys have wondered what this experience would be like. Kaitlin does a great job of spinning a fantasy, sex tale of two curious lovers. It's well written, highly erotic, and filled with raw, hard sex.

I think you'll enjoy it if you let your mind go, and roll with the fantasy!
